Rachel's Bias Cut Skirt

Rachel's Bias Cut Skirt

I’m really excited to share with you my Viki Sews Sati Skirt I made from this luxurious crepe back satin from Jenny.

I’ve been after making a bias cut skirt for a long time and after looking at a few options decided on this one as I love the fact Viki Sews drafts for different height ranges and as I’m 5’10” it means less adjustments!

This fabric is absolutely stunning, it has the perfect blend of drape and weight to it and when it arrived I was bowled over by how incredible it is compared to many crepe back satins I’ve worked with before.

This was a super quick make and I decided to use the satin side as the right side of this skirt, which is more of a gentle sheen rather than a high satin finish.

I’m wearing it here with another Jenny Stitches fabric a lovely silver knit jersey I picked up from the knitting and stitching show in November which I made up into the Tammy handmade Mia Sweater, I love how these pair together and they’re on constant rotation in my wardrobe.

This was my first Viki Sews pattern and I was really impressed with the drafting and instructions, I would love to see this fabric in more colours as it would work so well for many different projects.

Inspired to make your own version? Here's what you'll need:

Fabric : Satin Backed Crepe in Silver, also available in Lipstick, Dusky Pink & Petrol Blue.

Satin back crepe is a sumptuous and luxurious fabric. It can be used for special occasions, bridal party wear or elevated basics.

One side is a shiny satin finish, with a matte crepe to the reverse. The choice of right and wrong side is yours, why not mix and match elements within a garment to create a subtle effect?

Pattern : Sati Skirt by Viki Sews, a PDF only pattern printed using the A0 pattern printing service.

Disclosure:

Rachel was provided with the materials for her project free of charge and received a gift voucher in recognition of the time spent on her project.
