Hi, I'm Jenny and welcome to Jenny Stitches!

Jenny Stitches was born in March 2019, when my trusty local fabric shop announced its doors were closing. Disappointed that I no longer had anywhere to find dress fabrics locally I jokingly suggested "Jenny Stitches : Quality Dress Fabrics & Haberdashery" to my husband who replied - why not? The rest, as they say, is history!

I am married to James and we have 3 beautiful children, Jack, Jessica & Juliet. Sadly we lost our darling Jessica at 10 months old to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome and as such we are strong and active supporters of the Lullaby Trust. We live in Barrow-in-Furness, nestled in between the seaside and the stunning Lake District. Whilst a little bit of a trip to reach by car it is the most incredible location to live with the mountains and lakes as our playground.

I am passionate about our local high streets and believe that we hold the power to save them if we all play our part so it was essential to me that my business had a physical presence. After two years of establishing my business within Barrow Market Hall and opening my online store, I moved to a newly refurbished shop unit on Barrow's high street, Dalton Road.

In June 2023, I took the leap and move into a much larger vacant shop unit, just next door. With greater space, I was able to introduce a wider range of fabrics, build a dedicated workshop space for socials and classes and secure the future for my business - I have so many plans and ideas!

By "trade" I am a qualified accountant but I've always wanted a business of my own, so what better way to do it than to combine it with a hobby I am passionate about? 

When I'm not sewing, I can be found knitting, working out, gardening and baking, I love to be busy!
