Sew A Sweatshirt With Jenny - Saturday 15th November

Join Jenny on this one day workshop, and learn to sew a cosy sweatshirt - just in time for the chilly months ❄️

Perfect for a Christmas gift (or a gift to self, we don't judge), a sweatshirt is the ideal place to learn the fundamentals of sewing with knit fabrics. A word of warning though, they are very addictive and you might find yourself making them at every opportunity!

The pattern used for this workshop is the Helen's Closet Jackson Pullover. The Jackson is a unisex and size inclusive pattern, which makes it ideal if you want to sew for you, or someone else. 

You do need to have some sewing machine experience for this course, so it's not suitable for complete beginners - but it is an ideal first garment, if you're new to sewing clothes.

Jenny Stitches, Unit 1, 78-80 Dalton Road, Barrow-in-Furness.

What's provided

• Tea, coffee and refreshments throughout the workshop.
• PDF pattern printout and instruction booklet.
• Jenny's expert tuition and guidance.

What you will need to bring with you

• 1.5 - 2M of sweatshirt fabric (depending on size, we can advise in advance).
• 0.5M tubular ribbing fabric for cuffs, waistband and neckband.
• Matching thread
  
• Sewing machine, ballpoint/jersey needle and sewing kit (see below for in house machine use, please let us know in advance if you require a class machine).

Fabric recommendations

We recommend using light to medium sweatshirt fleece or french terry. Our sample is sewn in our Organic Soft Sweat, using matching ribbing. 

If in doubt, please call in to the shop and we will help you put together a kit based on your preferences.

Class Sewing Machines and Tools

Here at Jenny Stitches we want sewing to be as accessible for as many people as possible! We have a number of in house Janome sewing machines available for use at no additional charge. We also provide basic tool kits. If however, you prefer to use your own machine and tools, please feel free to bring them along with you on the day.

Meet your tutor

Jenny has been sewing for over 15 years, and in that time she's made possibly every mistake in the book - some of them twice! She now boasts a fully handmade wardobe (which she even wears!) and a fabric collecting problem that resulted in the award winning Jenny Stitches. It's safe to say that in that time, she's learned a few tricks and she's excited to be a part of your creative journey.
